Made with organically grown Calendula flowers harvested from my gardens. The petals are air dried and steeped in organic Olive oil for 60 days. The infused oil is blended with beeswax, organic Sweet Almond and Coconut oils, organic Shea butter and lightly scented with Chamomile essential oil.
The flower petals of the calendula plant have been used for medicinal purposes since at least the 12th century. According to Mt. Sinai Hospital, it has been shown to help wounds heal faster, possibly by increasing blood flow and oxygen to the affected area, helping the body grow new tissue. It is also used to improve skin hydration and firmness.
Calendula is generally considered safe to use on your skin. However, DO NOT apply it to an open wound without a doctor's supervision. People who are allergic to plants in the daisy or aster family, including chrysanthemums and ragweed, may have an allergic reaction to Calendula (usually a skin rash). Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use Calendula in any form, as it could interfere with conception, and possibly cause miscarriage.
